To determine center position on the rack, Refer to Steering Gear, Service and Repair, Center Position on Steering Rack, Determining
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
Tightening torque:
Tie rod to power steering gear ...................................................................................................................................................... 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.)
Installing boot

Check boot for wear (cuts, cracks) and make sure sealing surfaces are clean.

Turn tie rod first so that the tie rod ball joint tapered pin is positioned and install boot.
Note:

Only use original equipment type clamps

Tighten clamp using pliers VAG 1275.
