Control Module: Service and Repair
09G, 6 SPD. A/T

Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217-, removing and installing, 09G, 6 Spd. A/T

Removing 
-

Switch off ignition.

-

Remove defroster duct Heating Air Conditioning.

Note:  The control module connector may only be connected or disconnected once a period of 30 seconds has elapsed after switching the ignition off.

Release connector - arrow 1 - and take off transmission control module - arrow2 -.

Note:  Separating the connector automatically resets the adaptation values of the transmission. The control module must relearn the values once the
transmission is operational again. The quality of the gear changes may deteriorate during the "learning phase".

Remove nuts - arrow 3 -.

-

Remove control module.

Installing 
Installation is performed in the reverse sequence of removal. Note the following.

-

When reinstalling multi-pin connector, fit connector onto pin of Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217- - arrow1 - and then lock multi-pin
connector - arrow2 -.

-

Tighten nuts - arrow 3 - to 10 Nm.

-

Connect Vehicle diagnosis, testing information system VAS 5051 and switch until "function/component selection" is displayed.

-

Then press "Drive (Repair group 01;10 - 26;28 - 39)".

-

Then press "6-speed automatic transmission 09G".

-

Press "01 - Self-diagnosis".

-

Press "Functions".

-

Press "Basic setting".

Check Starting interlock relay -J207- 

Special tools and equipment 
-

Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component Locations

-

Remove cover in driver's footwell.

-

Turn ignition key to position "Start".

-

Move selector lever from position "S" to "P" and back to "S" again.

-

Starting interlock relay -J207- must audibly and perceptibly operate.
