Open pressure tester V.A.G 1318 shut-off tap (handle in through-flow direction).

Start engine and run at idle speed.

Switch ignition off after pressure has built-up. At same time pinch/seal return hose -2- together.
If the pressure does not drop:

Replace fuel pressure regulator.

Erase DTC memory to put learned values in a neutral setting. See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing

If the pressure drops again:

Check line connections, O-rings on fuel manifold and injectors for leaks.

Check pressure gauge for leaks.
If a leak is being repaired on vehicle:

NOTE: Before removing the pressure gauge, remove fuse 28 again and place a cloth around the connections to be loosened.
