Vehicles with automatic transmissions:

Learning kick-down point

Adapt control module for automatic transmission.

Continued for all vehicles

Check DTC memory, if necessary, repair any malfunctions and then erase DTC memory, checking and erasing DTC memory.  See: Powertrain

Perform idle check.  See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Idle Speed/Testing and Inspection

Test drive vehicle.

Observe the valid safety precautions when performing a road test.  See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Service
Precautions/Technician Safety Information 
During the road test the following operating conditions must be fulfilled:

-

The coolant temperature must exceed 80 °C.

-

When the temperature is reached, the operating conditions

Idling

Part throttle

Enrichment

Wide open throttle

Overrun

must be obtained several times.

Replacing Engine Control Module (ECM)

Work procedure

First, check control module identification of the previous Engine Control Module (ECM) as follows:

-

Connect diagnostic tester.

-

Switch ignition on.

-

Under address word 33, select "Diagnostic mode 9: vehicle information".

-

Select the vehicle information "Test-ID 04: Calibration Identification".

-

Control module identification will be indicated, e.g.: 06A906032KC 4795

-

End diagnosis and switch ignition off.
