Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
With Manufacturer's Scan Tool

Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor, checking

 Special tools and equipment

-

Test box V.A.G 1598/31

-

Hand multimeter V.A.G 1526 or multimeter V.A.G 1715

-

Adapter set V.A.G 1594

-

Wiring diagram 

Checking conditions

-

Sensor DTC is recognized by On Board Diagnosis (OBD)

Checking sequence

-

Disconnect 3-pin connector off Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor (arrow).

-

Connect multimeter to measure voltage with adapter cables from V.A.G 1594 to terminals 1 (positive) and 3 (ground) on the Camshaft Position
(CMP) sensor connector.

-

Switch ignition on.
Specification: 4.0 to 6.0 V

-

Switch ignition off.

If no voltage is present:

-

Remove inner plenum chamber cover, left:
