1. Gas-filled shock absorber

Checking shock absorber for leaks and noises

Functional check

Compress shock absorber by hand. Piston rod must move over its complete length smoothly and with even force.

If the shock absorber has sufficient gas pressure the piston rod returns to its original starting position.

^

If the piston rod does not return to its starting position and there is no loss of oil then the shock absorber is still OK.

4. Bump stop
5. Shock absorber mount
6. Self-locking hex nut
