Safety Belt Light Stays ON With Drivers Side Safety Belt Buckled

Condition

Safety belt light remains on even if driver side safety belt is buckled. Safety belt light turns off if driver and front passenger safety belt is buckled.

No DTCs are stored in Airbag DTC memory.

Condition may be due to the instrument cluster being coded for the Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS) when the vehicle is not equipped with
PODS.

Service

Check instrument cluster coding as follows:

-

Connect the VAS 5051/5052 Diagnostic tool.

-

Switch ignition ON.

-

From the Start-up screen, select "Vehicle Self-Diagnosis".

-

Select vehicle system "17-Dash panel insert".
