Power Steering Bleeding: Service and Repair

Raise vehicle enough that front wheels turn without resistance.

Check hydraulic fluid level and top off, if necessary => [ Power Steering Fluid Level, Checking ] See: Testing and Inspection/Component Tests
and General Diagnostics/Power Steering Fluid Level, Checking.

Start engine and let it run at idle for approximately 5 seconds.

Switch off engine and check hydraulic fluid level.

Repeat procedure once more.

Start engine again and turn steering wheel 3 times from stop to stop at idle speed.

Switch off engine and check hydraulic fluid level, top off if necessary.

Repeat procedure 2 times.
To dissipate gas of hydraulic fluid, let engine stand 2 to 3 minutes.

Lower vehicle
-
Once more, turn steering wheel 5 times from stop to stop at idle speed.
Steering system has been bled when air bubbles no longer rise to the surface in hydraulic fluid reservoir.

After completing the bleeding procedure, install cap on reservoir hand-tight.
