Brake Caliper

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

‹› Brake pedal actuator (V.A.G 1869/2)

Removing

The work sequence applies only for replacement of the brake caliper housing or the following repairs on the brake caliper housing. 

-

Remove wheels.

-

Disconnect harness connector - 1 - on vehicles with brake pad wear indicator.

-

Attach bleeder bottle bleeder hose onto bleeder valve of brake caliper housing and open bleeder valve.

-

Install brake pedal actuator (V.A.G 1869/2 ).

-

Close bleeder valve and remove bleeder bottle.

-

Remove brake hose.

-

Pull both covers out of brake caliper housing bearing bushings. 

-

Unscrew and remove both guide pins - arrows - from brake caliper housing.

-

Remove brake caliper housing from brake carrier.
