Seat Heater: Service and Repair

Front Cover and Cushion

Backrest Heating Element

Removal

CAUTION!
Do not install normal seat heater elements (for fabric seat covers) in vehicles with leather seat covers.

There is a danger the seat heater may overheat.

Remove seat.

Remove backrest. Refer to => [ Front Backrest Assembly Overview ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Front Seats Overview.

Remove the backrest cover through 04.2003 and convertible. Refer to => [ Front Backrest Cover and Upholstery ]. See: Service and
Repair/Overhaul/Seat Upholstery, Covers/Front Cover and Cushion/Front Backrest Cover and Upholstery

Remove the backrest cover from 05.2003. Refer to => [ Front Backrest Cover and Cushion from 05.2003 ]. See: Service and Repair/Overhaul/Seat
Upholstery, Covers/Front Cover and Cushion/Front Backrest Cover and Cushion From 05.2003

Disconnect the connector - 5 -.

Guide cable - 1 - through opening - 2 - in center part of cushion - 3 - and remove heating element -  4 -.

‹› In the leather version from 05.2003, the heating element is integrated in the backrest cover and can only be replaced together with the backrest

cover.
