Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Front Brakes
FS III Brake Caliper
CAUTION!

Before working on the brake system, read CAUTIONS and WARNINGS, Refer to Service Precautions.

After installing new brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary to seat brake pads to brake disc.
Note: Before removing a caliper or disconnecting a brake hose to the caliper, install the brake pedal depressor VAG 1869 or equivalent.

- Screw

Tighten to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.)

- Brake disc
^
Thickness 22 mm (0.866 inch)
^
Wear limit: 19 mm (0.748 inch)
^
When worn always replace on both sides
^
Remove brake caliper before removing disc
^
Never remove brake discs from hub by using force. If necessary use penetrating fluid, otherwise brake discs can be damaged.

- Exterior brake pad

Thickness: 14 mm (0.551 inch)
^
Always replace brake pads on same axle on both sides of vehicle at same time
^
Removing and installing go to Brake pad.

- Interior brake pad

Thickness 14 mm (0.551 inch)
