Always replace brake pad on front left axle

Removing and installing go to Brake Pad.

From 2000 > left wheel brake pad with pad wear indicator

Tighten to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.)

Remove

- Brake hose with union and banjo bolt
^
Tighten to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
^
Always replace copper washer when the brake hose and union with banjo bolt are disassembled.

- Wheel bearing housing

- Pad wear sensor connector bracket
^
It is not necessary to remove harness connector from connector bracket when replacing brake pad with pad wear sensor

- Socket-head bolt
^
Tighten to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)

- ABS wheel speed sensor
^
Before inserting sensor, clean hole inner surface and coat with grease, Part No. G 000 650

- Splash shield

Tighten to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.)

Replace each time after removing

Before working on the brake system, read CAUTIONS and WARNINGS, Refer to Service Precautions..

After installing new brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary to seat brake pads to brake disc.
Note: Before removing caliper or disconnecting brake hose to the caliper, install the brake pedal depressor VAG 1869 or equivalent.
