Check fuse for Secondary Air Pump Relay -J299- -arrow-.

Press -> button.

Output Diagnostic Test Mode
->
Secondary air pump relay -J299-
Secondary Air Pump Relay -J299- activates Secondary Air Pump Motor -V101- and this must run at intervals until next actuator is activated by pressing
-> button.
If the Secondary Air Pump Motor -V101- does not run at intervals:
-
Pull 2-pin connector off Secondary Air Pump Motor -V101- -arrow-.
-
Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester using adapter cables from VAG 1594 to disconnected connector.
LED must flash
LED flashes:
-
Proceed with Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) until completed.

Switch off ignition.
-
Replace Secondary Air Pump Motor -V101-.

Check DTC memory, if necessary, repair any malfunctions and then erase DTC memory, checking and erasing DTC memory. See: Testing and

Read readiness code. If DTC memory has been erased or Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220- was disconnected from battery positive

If the LED does not flash but the Secondary Air Pump Relay -J299- clicks

Proceed with Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) until completed.

Switch off ignition.
