Shifter A/T: Service and Repair
Select Lever, Removing and Installing
Removing:
CAUTION!
^
Before working on the electrical system, obtain radio security code and disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
^
When reconnecting battery, always check operation of vehicle equipment such as radio, clock, and power windows according to Owner's Manual.
^
Push down sleeve of selector lever handle.
^
While depressing knob, remove selector lever handle by pulling up.
^
Carefully pry off cover of shifter housing at left and right rear.
^
Remove center console and arm rest if installed.
^
Locking cable from shift mechanism locking lever, disconnecting.
^
Cut cable tie -1- at selector lever housing.
CAUTION!
Do not damage wiring hamess.
^
With screwdriver, carefully pry off retainer -2- for wiring and -3- for connector from selector lever housing.
^
Disconnect connectors -4- for shift lock solenoid and -5- for selector lever position display.
^
Carefully pry off frame at four corners -6- and remove. Be careful not to damage contact spring for selector lever position display.
^
Remove locking segment (2 bolts).
^
Move selector lever to " 1".
^
Remove retaining bracket -7- (2 nuts).
^
Remove solenoid bolts -8- (Qty. 2).
^
Remove front selector mechanism nuts (Qty. 2).
^
Lift vehicle.
^
Disconnect exhaust system at double clamp -A-. Remove front bracket for exhaust pipe if necessary.
^
Remove cross support -B- below exhaust system.
^
Remove heat shield -C-.
^
Remove heat shield -D-.
^
Remove both rear bolts for shift housing.
