This circular supercedes Volkswagen Service Circular V-90-13 dated October 1, 1990.
Effective October 1, 1990, Volkswagen of America, Inc. will provide a Limited Lifetime Warranty for Genuine Volkswagen Replacement Shock
Absorbers, Struts and Strut Inserts purchased by a retail customer.
This warranty will be combined with and will supplement the Volkswagen Limited Lifetime Muffler Warranty. The warranty terms, claim procedures,
claim forms and reimbursement process will be included with the Limited Lifetime Muffler Warranty.
New Genuine Volkswagen Replacement Mufflers (excluding air-cooled applications), Shock Absorbers, Struts and Strut Inserts are warranted by
Volkswagen of America for as long as the original purchaser of these replacement parts owns the vehicle on which they were originally installed. The
covered parts must have been purchased by a retail customer and installed by an authorized Volkswagen dealer. This warranty is limited to the following:
If Replacement Mufflers, Shock Absorbers, Struts and Strut Inserts do not last for as long as the original purchaser owns the vehicle, a replacement part
will be provided at no cost. The labor required for removal of the covered replacement parts and installation of new replacement part(s) is not
reimbursable except as noted below.
The LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY FOR VOLKSWAGEN REPLACEMENT MUFFLERS, SHOCK ABSORBERS, STRUTS and STRUT
INSERTS supplements the LIMITED WARRANTY FOR NEW AND FACTORY REMANUFACTURED PARTS AND ACCESSORIES of 12 months
or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Labor may be reimbursable under the LIMITED WARRANTY FOR NEW AND REMANUFACTURED
PARTS AND ACCESSORIES.
The new Replacement Mufflers, Shock Absorbers, Struts and Strut Inserts will continue to be covered by the Limited Lifetime Warranty for Volkswagen
Replacement Mufflers, Shock Absorbers, Struts and Strut Inserts.
Owner's Obligations

Prior to replacement, the customer must present the unserviceable Volkswagen replacement part(s) on the vehicle on which it was originally
installed to any authorized Volkswagen dealer in the United States. In addition, the proof of original purchase from an authorized
Volkswagen dealer (i.e., repair order showing VIN and customer's name or the original warranty certificate for the Limited Lifetime
Warranty for the Volkswagen Replacement Part(s)) must be presented as proof of purchase.

The documentation proving replacement, along with a completed claim form and proof of original purchase must be presented to the District
Parts Manager. Upon verification by the District Parts Manager, a credit or replacement part will be issued to the dealer by the parts depot.

This warranty is NOT transferable.
Damage and Malfunctions Not Covered By This Warranty
^
Misuse, negligence, alteration, accident or fire;
^
Improper repair of the vehicle;
^
Use of the vehicle in competitive events;
^
Failure to follow recommended maintenance requirements;
Other Items Not Covered By This warranty
^
Catalyst, exhaust pipes (unless part of muffler assembly) clamps, gaskets, hangers, other mounting hardware associated with the replacement
of the Muffler, Shock Absorbers, Struts and Strut Inserts;

Wholesale purchase or installation by an independent repair facility.
Consequential Damage Excluded
