Remove left protective plate for drive axle -arrows-. The third bolt cannot be seen in picture.

Remove left drive axle -1-.

Place VAG1306 Drip tray underneath.

Unscrew inspection plug -arrow- and extract at least 0.5 liter of gear oil from the front final drive using VAG1358A.
It is essential that the oil is extracted from the front final drive, as otherwise gear oil could become mixed with ATF.

Remove speedometer sensor.

Remove bracket for connector from flange shaft bearing bracket.

Unbolt flange shaft bearing bracket -arrows-.
-
Pull out flange shaft.
