Camshaft: Testing and Inspection

AXIAL CLEARANCE

Refer to the illustration.

Wear limit: maximum 0.15 mm (0.0060 inch)

NOTE:  Check with hydraulic lifters removed and with first and last bearing caps installed for the appropriate camshaft.

RADIAL CLEARANCE

-

Check radial clearence using Plastigage.

Wear limit:  Maximum  0.10 mm (0.0039 inch)

RUNOUT

-

Check runout using a suitable dial indicator with V blocks.

Maximum runout: 0.01 mm (0.0004 inch)
