Valve Seat: Service and Repair

NOTE:

-

Only rework valve faces enough to get a good contact.

Calculate the maximum permissible refacing dimension before you start refacing, refer to Testing and Inspection.

If you exceed the refacing dimension, the hydraulic lifters will not function properly and the cylinder head must be replaced.

Cylinder heads which have cracks between the valve seats or between valve seat inserts and the spark plug thread can be used further without
reducing service life, provided the cracks do not exceed a maximum of 0.5 mm in width.
