Constant Velocity Joint: Service and Repair
Replacement

REMOVAL

1. Loosen 12-point nut with vehicle standing on its wheels.
2. Disconnect drive shaft from. transmission drive flange.

3. Remove bolts -arrow-A-.
4. Loosen bolt-arrow-B-.
5. Separate connection between ball joint/control arm.

First mark installation position.

6. Press drive shaft out.

Install tool as shown in illustration.

NOTE:  When pressing drive shaft out ensure sufficient clearance is available.

INSTALLATION

1. Remove remains of locking fluid from outer joint and hub splines. (Splines must be free of oil and grease).

2. Apply locking fluid part No. D 185 400 A2, or equivalent, to splines as shown in illustration.

Bead cross section approx. 3 mm.

3. Install drive shaft.
4. Connect ball joint to control arm.
5. Install drive shaft to transmission flange shaft and secure.
