Valve Guide Seal: Service and Repair

 
Valve stem seals, removing and installing 

(with cylinder head installed)
Special tools and equipment 

^

VAG 1331 Torque wrench (5 to 50 Nm)

^

VAG 1332 Torque wrench (40 to 200 Nm)

^

3122B Spark plug wrench

^

3364 Puller

^

VW 653/3 Pressure hose

^

3362 Valve spring compressor and press piece 3362/1

Removing 

-

Remove camshafts, Refer to Camshafts, Lifters and Push Rods.

-

Remove hydraulic lifters and place them contact surface downward.

Note:  Make sure that the lifters do not become interchanged.
