Checking conditions 

-

The Engine Control Module must be matched to the Throttle Body Control Module See page 24-134

-

Engine Coolant Temperature must be 85 °C minimum = Display group 04, Display zone 3 

-

Exhaust system between Three Way Catalyst and cylinder head must be leak tight 

Functional check 

-

Connect VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool, See: Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/Scan Tool Connecting

-

Start engine and let idle 

-

Press 0 and 1 buttons to select "Address word" 01 "Engine electronics" 

Display will appear as shown 

Rapid data transfer

HELP 

Select function XX 

-

Press 0 and 8 buttons to select Function 08: "Read measuring value block" 

-

Press Q button to enter input Display will appear as shown 

Read measuring value block

HELP 

Input Display group number XXX 

-

Press 0, 3 and 2 buttons to select "Display group 32" 

-

Press Q button to enter it put

Display will appear as shown (1 to 4 =    Display zones) 

Read measuring value block 32

Check Oxygen sensor (before Three Way Catalyst) "learned values" See Display zones 1 and 2, on chart.

If specifications are obtained: 

-

Press 3 button (VAG 1551) or Up arrow button (VAG 1552). 

Display will appear as shown (1 to 4 = Display zones)
