Checking conditions 

-

The Engine Control Module must be matched to the Throttle Body Control Module. 

-

Engine Coolant Temperature must be 85 °C minimum = Display group 04, Display zone 3. 

-

Exhaust system between Three Way Catalyst and cylinder head must be leak tight

Functional check 

-

Connect VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool, Refer to "Scan Tool Testing", See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and
Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/Scan Tool Connecting

Start engine and let idle 

-

Press 0 and 1 buttons to select "Address word" 01 "Engine electronics" 

Display will appear as shown 

Rapid data transfer

Select function XX

Press 0 and 8 buttons to select Function 08: "Read measuring value block"

Press Q button to enter input 

Display will appear as shown 

Read measuring value block

Input Display group number XXX

Press 0, 3 and 6 buttons to select "Display group 36"

Press Q button to enter input 

Display will appear as shown (1 to 4 = Display zones)
