M14 bolt:

115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.) and turn 180° further
M16 bolt:

190 Nm (140 ft. lbs.) and turn 90° further
WARNING: The drive axle bolt must be loosened or tightened only with the vehicle standing on its wheels.
13. Multi-point socket head bolt

M8 x 48: 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)
^
M10 x 48: 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.)
14. Plate
15. Protective boot for inner constant velocity joint

Check for tears and chafing

Drive off with drift
^
Before installing on constant velocity joint, coat sealing surface with D-3
Special Tools
Fig. 1 Tightening clamp on outer joint
CAUTION: Clamp (stainless steel) can only be tightened using NAG 1882 Fliers or equivalent (e.a. Snap-On YA 3080).

Make sure plier jaws seat in grooves of clamp (arrow B).

Tighten clamp by turning spindle.
Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
Note:

Use torque wrench with 5 - 50 Nm (4 - 37 ft. lbs.) range (e.g. VAG 1331 or equivalent).

Coat the threads of the tool spindle with MoS2 grease to ensure smooth operation and correct tensioning.
