Wastegate Actuator: Testing and Inspection

Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Hand Vacuum Pump (VAS 6213)

Conditions

‹› Hose from the wastegate bypass regulator valve (N75) to vacuum diaphragm must be free of kinks.

‹› Wastegate bypass regulator valve is OK

Procedure

Remove the engine cover/upper air filter housing. Refer to => [ Engine Cover/Upper Air Filter Housing ] See: Air Cleaner Housing/Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Cover/Upper Air Filter Housing.

Connect the (VAS 6213) to the vacuum diaphragm -  arrow -.

Set the slide ring - 1 - on the (VAS 6213) to position - B - for "pressure". 

CAUTION!
The pressure must not exceed 750 mbar. If the pressure is exceeded, the vacuum diaphragm can be damaged.

Operate the (VAS 6213) several times and observe rods.

The linkage - A - must move approximately 300 mbar and be at approximately 700 mbar at end position.
