Ribbed Belt: Service and Repair

Poly-ribbed belt, 6 cylinder engine, removing/installing

NOTE:  When installing the poly-ribbed belt be sure it is properly seated on the pulley.

Removing

Disconnect Evaporative (EVAP) Emission Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80) with retaining ring from air cleaner lower section. Refer to
Powertrain Management, Fuel Delivery and Air Induction, Air Cleaner Housing   See: Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner
Housing/Locations
Remove air cleaner housing complete with Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)

Screw in bolt M8 X 80 into threaded hole -A-  until tension of poly-ribbed belt is released.

CAUTION:  Only screw in bolt until the poly-ribbed belt can be removed. Too much tightening can damage the tensioner housing.

Remove poly-ribbed belt.
