Compression Check: Testing and Inspection

Compression, Testing

NOTE:  Engine oil temperature minimum 3O° C (86° F).

Special tools needed:

Compression tester VAG 1381 or VAG 1763
Spark plug wrench 31 22B
Fixture 3277

-

Remove 5-pin harness connector from ignition coil (N152)

-

Fully open throttle.

-

Check compression with tester VAG 1381 or VAG 1763.

-

Crank starter until tester shows no additional increase in pressure

Compression Pressure:

New:  ..................................................................................................................................................................................................  10 to 13 bar
Wear limit:  ................................................................................................................................................................................................  7.5 bar
Permissible difference between all cylinders:  ..............................................................................................................................................  3 bar
