Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Testing and Inspection From Jan. 1993
REQUIREMENTS
Digital Volt/Ohm Meter (DVOM).
Test Connector kit VW 1594 or Equivalent.
Refer to Tools and Equipment for test equipment specifications.
TEST PROCEDURE

Disconnect the Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector.

Connect DVOM to terminals 1 & 2 of the Camshaft Position Sensor using VW 1594 or Equivalent.

Resistance between terminals 1 & 2 .................................................................................................................................................. 500 to 750 ohms

Refer to On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) for fault code access.

Refer to VAG 1598 Pin Out Box/ Electrical Checks, step #22, to test wiring.
