  • ‒ Removing rear lid trim

=> General body repairs, interior; Repair group 70; Trim, removing and installing rear lid trim

  • ‒ Removing additional brake light

=> Electrical system; Repair group 94, additional brake light, removing and installing additional brake light

Note:

On vehicles fitted with a spoiler, the spoiler must be removed.

  • ‒ Pull off connections for heated rear window and press connecting tabs onto window.

  • ‒ Remove rear wiper arm (M8 hexagon nut = 15 Nm).
  • ‒ Loosen sealing lip from window flange all round with plastic wedge and spray in cleaning solution D 009 401 04 (as substitute for lubricant).
  • ‒ → Guide in cutting thread -1- between sealing lip and window flange with help of tube -2- (if the cutting thread should break, then cutting wire can also be used).

  • ‒ If the gap is too small guide cutting thread on outside and push under the lip with a plastic wedge.
  • ‒ → Pull cutting thread through the adhesive sealing material into inside of vehicle with broach (from V.A.G 1474 A). Cutting thread is laid double up to windscreen wiper shaft.

Note:

Press in cutting thread deep enough in order to avoid damaging the sealing lip and/or spacing lip.

  • ‒ Secure outer end of thread to window wiper shaft, or pull in end of thread towards inside and counter hold with pulling handle V.A.G 1351/1.
 
V64-0356
  • ‒ Pull off connections for heated rear window and press connecting tabs onto window.
  • ‒ → Cover inside of window flange -1- with textile reinforced adhesive tape (only when using cutting wire).
  • ‒ Secure inner end of thread on winding device.
  • ‒ Place winding device V.A.G 1654 in Position I.
  • ‒ Move winding device according to position required and cut out window glass.
  • ‒ Press cutting thread against window glass with plastic wedge during cutting process, in order to have clearance at window flange.
