Removing and installing footwell vent temperature sender G192 > < Climatronic - passenger compartment
Before beginning repair work, perform the following steps:

–  Switch off all electrical consumers.
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Pull out ignition key.
Special tools and workshop equipment required

Parts marked * can be repaired only in workshops with suitable equipment and specially trained mechanics because the refrigerant must be evacuated beforehand using, for example, the air conditioning service station -VAS 6007A-.
1 - Air duct
2 - Sunlight penetration photosensor -G107-
q   Function: controls temperature flap and fresh air blower depending on light intensity
q   In event of failure: control unit -J255- assumes fixed value.
q   Checking: with diagnosis functions of vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-.
q   Removing → Chapter.
3 - Dash panel temperature sensor -G56- with temperature sensor blower -V42-
q   The Climatronic control unit -J255-, the operating and display unit for Climatronic air conditioning system -E87- and the dash panel temperature sensor -G56- with temperature sensor blower -V42- are combined in one unit which cannot be dismantled.
q   Checking: with diagnosis functions of vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-.
q   Function: temperature sensor controls temperature flap and fresh air blower, depending on temperature.
q   In event of dash panel temperature sensor -G56- failure: continued operation assuming value of +24°.
q   Renewing and adjusting:“code control unit 07” with vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052- → Chapter and then initiate “basic setting 04” → Chapter.
4 - Defrosting vent
5 - Operating and display unit for Climatronic air conditioning system -E87-
q   The Climatronic control unit -J255-, the operating and display unit for Climatronic air conditioning system -E87- and the dash panel temperature sensor -G56- with temperature sensor blower -V42- are combined in one unit which cannot be dismantled.
q   Checking: with diagnosis functions of vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-.
q   Operation and function → Chapter.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
q   Renewing and adjusting:“code control unit 07” with vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052- → Chapter and then initiate “basic setting 04” → Chapter.
6 - Dust and pollen filter
q   With active charcoal filter.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
7 - Dash panel
q   Removing and installing → Rep. Gr.70.
8 - Vent on front passenger side
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
9 - Fresh air intake duct temperature sensor -G89-
q   With seal.
q   Function: temperature sensor controls temperature flap and fresh air blower, depending on temperature.
q   In event of failure: ambient temperature sensor -G17- takes over the function.
q   Checking: with diagnosis functions of vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-.
q   To renew, remove dash panel → Rep. Gr.70.
q   Turn temperature sensor 90° and pull out.
q   Moisten rubber seal with oil when installing.
10 - Evaporator output temperature sender -G263-
q   Only in vehicles with externally regulated air conditioner compressor.
q   Checking: with diagnosis functions of vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-.
q   With seal.
q   To renew: remove glove box → Rep. Gr.68.
q   Turn temperature sensor 90° and pull out.
q   Moisten rubber seal with oil when installing.
11 - Air flow flap control motor -V71-
q   Operates simultaneously fresh air and air recirculation flap.
q   Checking: with diagnosis functions of vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-.
q   Removing → Chapter.
q   Renewing and adjusting:“code control unit 07” with vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052- → Chapter and then initiate “basic setting 04” → Chapter.
12 - Fresh air blower -V2-
q   Checking: with diagnosis functions of vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-.
q   Removing → Chapter.
13 - Fresh air blower control unit -J126-
q   Task: continuously variable control of fresh air blower speed depending on voltage.
q   Checking: with diagnosis functions of vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-.
q   Removing → Chapter.
14 - Central vents
q   Removing → Chapter.
15 - Climatronic control unit -J255-
q   The Climatronic control unit -J255-, the operating and display unit for Climatronic air conditioning system -E87- and the dash panel temperature sensor -G56- with temperature sensor blower -V42- are combined in one unit which cannot be dismantled.
q   Checking: with diagnosis functions of vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.

16 - Heater and air conditioner*

q   Removing → Chapter.

18 - Temperature flap control motor -V68-

19 - Footwell vent temperature sender -G192-
q   Function: controls air distribution between defroster and footwell and the fresh air blower speed dependent upon the vent temperature.
q   Emergency running in event of failure: continued operation assuming water temperature of +80° C.
q   Checking: with diagnosis functions of vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
