• ‒ If clutch is a cause of complaint, then check function of clutch cable before removal .

Removing

• ‒ Disconnect earth strap from battery

Note:

Note radio coding for vehicles with coded radio.

• ‒ Depress clutch pedal several times down onto stop.

• ‒ → Pull clutch cable out of release lever mounting (arrow -A-) to do this pull cable sleeve towards normal vehicle direction of travel.

The adjusting mechanism is then pushed towards the bulkhead (arrow -B-) so that it is pushed together within the area of bellows -C-.

• ‒ Unhook clutch cable from mounting on gearbox.

• ‒ → Pull stowage compartment, below dash panel, out of mountings but first push stops in direction of arrow.

• ‒ → Unbolt cover (arrows)
• ‒ Remove relay plate from mounting;

Note:

Do not pull connectors off relays and wiring.

• ‒ → Remove cover for clutch pedal from mounting bracket (arrows -1- and -2-).

• ‒ → Unhook clutch cable from clutch pedal (arrow).

• ‒ → Remove clutch cable from retainers (arrows).

Installing

• ‒ Lubricate clutch cable clutch pedal mounting point with MoS2 grease.
• ‒ Push clutch cable through bulkhead and clip bellows in position.
• ‒ Clip clutch cable into retainers (arrows).

Note:

Do not kink clutch cable when doing this. The function of the adjusting mechanism cannot otherwise be guaranteed.

• ‒ → Hook clutch cable into clutch pedal (arrow)

→ Hook clutch cable onto gearbox as follows:

• ‒ Fit rubber buffer -3-.
• ‒ Pull cable sleeve -2- in normal direction of travel and insert buffer in clutch release lever -1-

Notes:

• ◆ → If the cable sleeve cannot be moved in normal direction of travel then move the inner flexible cable -A- several times back and forth until the sleeve in the area of bellows -B- can be pushed together.
• ◆ The cable is then hooked in as shown on illustration V30-0411.
• ◆ If sliding the sleeves together is still not possible then the clutch cable adjusting mechanism must be made serviceable again

• ‒ → Locate cover on mounting bracket (arrows -1- and -2-).
• ‒ Insert relay plate into mounting; check wiring and relay connectors and press fully home if necessary.
• ‒ Install cover and stowage compartment below dash panel.
• ‒ Check clutch cable function
