Removing

  • ‒ First check whether a coded radio is fitted. If this is the case obtain the anti-theft coding.
  • ‒ With ignition switched off disconnect battery earth strap.
  • ‒ Fold rear seat forwards.

  • ‒ Remove cover in luggage boot floor.
  • ‒ → Pull off connector -1-.
  • ‒ Pull off/separate supply and return pipes -3 and 4- to fuel rail.
  • ‒ Pull off/separate supply pipe -2- to fuel filter and bleeder pipe -5-.

Note:

Press buttons on hose couplings to do this.

  • ‒ Drain fuel tank.

  • ‒ → Remove support bracket -1- from body.
  • ‒ Remove all rear exhaust system mountings from body. Then lower the exhaust system slightly and secure to body with wire.
  • ‒ Remove rear right wheel.
  • ‒ Detach filler pipe from body.
  • ‒ Take filler cap off filler neck and detach filler neck from cup.
  • ‒ Remove filler neck.
  • ‒ Now the fuel tank can be detached from body and removed together with the heat shield.

Installing

Installing is basically in the reverse order but note following:

  • ◆ Breather and fuel hoses are to be installed kink-free.
  • ◆ Secure fuel hoses with screw-type clamps.
  • ◆ Do not interchange supply and return hose (return hose blue or blue markings, supply hose black).
