Notes:

• ◆ After working on the exhaust system ensure that the system is not under stress, and that it has sufficient clearance from the bodywork. If necessary, loosen clamps and align silencer and exhaust pipe so that sufficient clearance is maintained to the bodywork and the support rings are evenly loaded.
• ◆ Renew self-locking nuts.

Exhaust manifold, front exhaust pipe with catalyst, Lambda probe

• Warm air collector plate
• 10 Nm

• Exhaust manifold
• Lock nut, 25 Nm
• ◆ Grease thread with "G5"
• Washer
• Exhaust gas recirculation valve flange

• ◆ Renew
• 40 Nm
• ◆ Grease thread with "G5"
• Front exhaust pipe with catalyst
• Catalyst
• Marking
• ◆ Three times on circumference
• To silencer

• Lambda probe, 55 Nm
• ◆ Grease only the threads with "G5"; "G5" must not get into the slots on the probe body
• ◆ Remove and install with 3337
• ◆ Checking:

=> Repair group 24; injection and ignition system

• Joint

1)     Front and rear silencers are installed as a single component as standard. In repair cases the front and rear silencers are supplied individually and a repair double clamp item 16 is supplied as a joint. Cut through connecting pipe at separating point -15 - with a body saw e.g. V.A.G 1523.
