Repairing diesel direct injection system
The diesel fuel is sucked out of the tank by the distributor-type injection pump, compressed and injected directly onto the piston crown in the combustion chamber via injectors.
The quantity injected is electronically regulated by the diesel direct injection system control unit -J248-. Electronic regulation enables the quantity injected and the injection characteristics, commencement of injection and exhaust gas recirculation to be regulated flexibly according to requirements.
The diesel direct injection system control unit -J248- is equipped with a fault memory. Before starting repairs, adjustments and fault finding, the fault memory must be interrogated and final control diagnosis completed → Chapter.
  Note
When performing test and adjustment work the control unit can recognize and store faults. For this reason after completing all test and adjustment work always clear fault memory → Chapter.
