From vehicle identification No. 6N W 000 001 a modified steering column has been introduced.

The universal joint shaft can no longer be unscrewed from the steering column as it is peened to the steering column.

The upper section of the steering column is equipped with a torque overload clutch. This ensures that the steering wheel locks remains undamaged if force is used.

Notes:

  • ◆ Always renew self-locking nuts and bolts.
  • ◆ Welding and straightening work on steering components is not permitted.

    • If a moment of over 100 Nm is exerted on steering wheel then the steering column will also turn without damaging the locking pin.

    • ◆ Drive in with synthetic head hammer
  • Spreader rivet
    • ◆ Renew each time after removing
