Removing

  • ‒ Removing driver's airbag unit .
  • ‒ Remove steering column switch lower trim section -6 -.
  • ‒ Pull foam tube -7 - off the connector -8 - and separate connector.
  • ‒ Turn wheels to straight-ahead position.
  • ‒ Remove hexagon nut -4 - and pull steering wheel off steering column (hexagon nut 50 Nm).

Coil connector with slip ring -5 - remains on the steering wheel.

Installing steering wheel

  • ‒ → Fit steering wheel so that the line marked on the steering wheel hub -2- and the centre punch mark on the steering column -3- -arrow B- align.

Steering columns supplied as a spare part do not have a centre punch mark.

They must be marked after performing alignment tests or a test drive.
