Diagnosis of crashed vehicles |
During the repair of crashed vehicles, sometimes damages to
the chassis or the assembly mounting are not identified, which, under
certain circumstances, may cause serious damage. In accidents where
a high load on the vehicle has occurred, the following parts must
be especially checked - regardless of performing a measurement of
the shafts: |
t
| Check the steering wheel and the steering column as to its
correct operation through the steering turning angle, visual control
of deformities or cracks. |
t
| Check the chassis, all components of the chassis such as arms,
shock absorber, tip of the steering bar, stabilizer, assembly mounting,
axle beam and the respective fastening elements for deformations or
cracks. |
t
| Check the wheels and tires for damages, radial beating and
unbalanced wheels. Inspect the tires for cuts in profile and edges,
check the pressure of the tires. |
t
| Check the engine bearings, gearbox, axles and exhaust system
for damages. |
t
| At last, a test drive should be performed after finishing the
repair; this test drive is to ensure that the vehicle is safe in traffic
and that it may be delivered without any problem to the customer. |
