t  Before repairing the antilock braking system, establish the cause of damage with the help of the “Assisted fault diagnosis”.
The “Assisted fault diagnosis” is carried out with the diagnosis, measurement and information system DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM -VAS 5051A-.
t  With the ignition turned off, disconnect the battery earth strap
t  Before welding with electric welding equipment
t  Observe the safety measures and remarks in force while handling brake fluid → Chapter
t  After finishing the works that required the brake system opening, bleed the brake system with the Brake filling and bleeding equipment -VAS 5234- or Brake filling and bleeding equipment -V.A.G 1869-  → Chapter.
t  In the test drive, make sure that the brake is requested at least once, to check the anti-lock system (the pulsing in the brake pedal should be felt).
t  While working on the antilock braking system, a high level of cleanliness must be maintained, and under no circumstances can materials with mineral oil, such as, for example, oils, grease, etc., be used.
t  Carefully clean the union points and surrounding surfaces before releasing them; however, no cleaning products should be used, such as, for example, brake cleaning products, gasoline, solvents, or similar products.
t  The components removed must be placed on a clean surface and covered over.
t  If the repair tasks are not carried out immediately, carefully cover the open components or place them in a proper location. (Use the 1H0 698 311 A repair set lid)
t  Use lint-free cloths.
t  Only remove the replacement parts from their packages immediately before assembly.
t  Use only parts in original packaging.
t  Do not work with compressed air nor move the vehicle with the system open.
t  Make sure that no brake fluid comes into contact with the connectors.
t  During painting, the command unit may be momentarily submitted to a maximum temperature of 95 °C, and for longer periods (approximately 2 hours) with the maximum of 85 °C.
