  Note
t  After replacing the brake pads, press the brake pedal repeatedly for proper pad seating
t  To aspirate the brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir, use the Brake filling and bleeding equipment -VAS 5234- or Brake filling and bleeding equipment -V.A.G 1869-.
t  Before removing the brake caliper or a brake caliper hose, you must place the Brake pedal pressing device -VAG 1869/2-.
   
1 - Brake disc
q   Brake disc thickness: 18 mm
q   Wear limit: 16 mm
q   always replace the pads from the same axle
q   to remove, first release the brake caliper
q   Do not remove the brake discs from the wheel hub with with excessive force, use a rust remover if necessary, otherwise the discs may be damaged.
q   Maximum disc beating 0.03 mm
q   Maximum disc + roller bearing beating 0.124 mm
on brake discs with visual check system, refer to → Chapter
2 - Screw
q   4 Nm
3 - Brake pads
q   with wear indication
q   when the corresponding wear is reached (limit: 2 to 3 mm), a control lamp turns on in the instrument panel
q   Thickness 12 mm, the pad with largest packing area is installed on the outside
q   Wear limit: 7 mm with the rear plate
q   Check thickness → Booklet
q   always replace from the same axle
q   remove and install → Chapter
4 - Brake caliper
q   repair → Chapter
q   remove and install → Chapter
5 - Lower sleeve
6 - Lower bushing
7 - Lower spacer sleeve
8 - Lower internal hex head screw
q   25 Nm
9 - Air duct
10 - Hexagonal head screw
q   10 Nm
11 - Lower internal hex head screw
q   25 Nm
12 - Upper spacer sleeve
13 - Upper bushing
14 - Upper sleeve
15 - Fastening sleeve
16 - Brake hose with annular nozzle and hollow screw
q   35 Nm
17 - Wheel hub
q   remove and install → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. Gr.40
18 - Hexagonal head screw
q   10 Nm
19 - Cover plate
20 - Wheel roller bearing case
21 - ABS speed sensor
q   before installing the sensor, clean the internal surface of the hole and apply Lubricating Putty -G 000 650- around the sensor. Refer to the → Chemicals Manual
22 - Internal hex head screw
q   8 Nm
