Removal
Removal
  Note
t  Drain fuel container with fuel draining equipment -VAS 5190-.
t  Before installation jobs, check safety measures → Chapter.
–  First, check if vehicle has code radio, if so consult anti-theft code.
–  With ignition off, disconnect ground cable from battery.
–  Open filling nozzle cover and loosen container cover.
–  Drain fuel container and clean surroundings of filling nozzle.
–  Fold back seat.
–  Remove fuel pump cover.
–  Disconnect 4-pole connector from pump flange.
–  Remove right rear wheel.
–  Remove right rear wheel box protector: → Body - External assembly jobs; Rep. Gr.66
–  Loosen activated charcoal filter.
–  Loosen supply nozzle from body.
–  Loosen all rear exhaust system supports from body. Exhaust system must be fastened with metallic wire to the body, a bit lowered.
–  Remove rear axis: → Chassis; Rep. Gr.42
  WARNING
Fuel supply hose is under pressure! Before loosening hose junctions, place a cloth around them. Next, eliminate pressure removing hose carefully.
   
–  Separate intake hose -1- (black) and air ventilation hose -2- (white) at junction point.
–  Loosen tension belt and fastening bolts, supporting fuel container with Engine-/gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383/A-.
–  Lower fuel container.
