Then it will probably be necessary to disconnect ground cable from battery. First, check whether vehicle has code radio, if so consult anti-theft code before disconnecting ground cable from battery.
–  Fold back seat.
–  Remove fuel pump cover.
–  Briefly activate start engine. Fuel pump operation must be audible for approximately 1 second.
If fuel pump does not start:
–  Turn ignition off.
–  Remove fuse box cover.
   
–  Remove fuse 41 (fuel pump) from fuse holder.
–  Connect remote command -V.A.G 1348/3A- with adapter cable -V.A.G 1348/3-2- to borne 41a to fuel pump and to battery positive (+).
–  Start remote control.
If fuel pump starts:
–  Ensure fuel pump relay is operating, according to electric diagram, using Relay controlled current circuit tester -V.A.G 1466/A- → Electric diagrams, Fault location in the electric system and installation positions.
If fuel pump does not start:
–  Disconnect 4-pole connector from pump flange.

–  Attach Voltmeter -V.A.G 1527/B- with auxiliary cables of Measuring appliance set -V.A.G 1594/C- to connector external contacts.
–  Start remote control. Diode lamp must turn on.
Diode lamp does not turn on:
–  Locate and eliminate cable interruption according to electric diagram: → Folder: Electric diagrams, Fault location in the electric system and installation positions
If diode turns on (power supply OK):
  N20-0244
–  Loosen nut with wrench 3217.
–  Check if cables are connected between flange and fuel pump.
If it is not possible to locate cable interruption:
–  Replace fuel pump.
