Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Climate control recovery, recycling and refill set or EQ 7098 -VAS 6008-.
  Note
t  The working procedure may be subject to slight differences depending on which equipment is used. Therefore, it is necessary to observe the specific operating instructions for each equipment.
t  Other available test equipment and tools may also be used, please refer to → Chapter.
t  Check cooling power. The air conditioning is working properly if the air outlet from the instrument panel bafflers has a temperature equal or less than 7 °C when the system's lowest temperature is selected (maximum cooling power).
Checking conditions:
l  The radiator and the condenser are adequately clean (clean if necessary).
l  The thermal insulation of the expansion valve is in order and properly assembled. Refer to the specific repair manual for each vehicle → Heating, air conditioning; Rep. Gr.87.
l  The Poly-V belt of the air conditioning compressor is in order and properly tensioned.
l  All air passages, covers and seals are in order and properly assembled.
l  No fault is recorded in the fault memory. Consult the fault memory → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
l  The dust and pollen filter is clean. Refer to the specific repair manual for each vehicle → Heating, air conditioning; Rep. Gr.87.
l  The air conditioning device does not suck additional air when the fresh air fan operates at its highest speed.
l  The air conditioning device flaps, in the heat exchanger and in the evaporator, reach all the way to the stop. Refer to the specific repair manual for each vehicle → Heating, air conditioning; Rep. Gr.87.
l  Water drainage from the evaporator is in order.
l  The engine operates at normal operating temperature.
l  The vehicle is not exposed to solar radiation.
l  The ambient temperature is above 15 °C.
l  All the instrument panel bafflers are open.
