t  Refill reservoir -V.A.G 1924-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
t  Diagnosis, measurement and information system for vehicles -VAS 5051-
t  Diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/3-

   
Use only ATF with refill number G 052 990 A2
  N37-0993
–  When checking the ATF level, always replace the retainer -arrow- from the ATF level control screw.

Checking the ATF level
When starting the inspection, the ATF must not exceed 30°C approximately
t  The transmission must not be in emergency operation, and the ATF temperature must not be higher than 30°C
t  Vehicle in horizontal position
t  Selector lever in "P"

–  Connect the equipment VAS 5051 and switch until "Select functions/components" appears
–  Press "Power-drive (Rep. Group 01; 10...26; 28...39)".
–  Then, "4-speed automatic gearbox 001"
–  Press "01 - Self-diagnosis".
–  Press "Functions"
–  Press "Checking the ATF level".
–  Press the key "".
–  Start the engine.
–  Raise the vehicle.
–  Place a vessel under the transmission.
–  Press the key "".
If it indicates that the
Checking temperature: 35° C to 45° C
then

Disassemble the ATF control plug from the oil sump -arrow-.
The ATF in the overflow pipe pours.

If ATF continues to pour through the hole:
it is not necessary to refill ATF.
–  Tighten the locking screw with a new retainer with a torque of 15 Nm. The ATF control is concluded.
If ATF does not pour through the hole:
–  Refill ATF. → Anchor
Refill ATF

–  Remove the hood -arrow- that fastens the plug by making a lever with a screwdriver. When performing this operation, the hood fitting is broken, and you must always replace it.
–  Remove the plug from the fill pipe.

Fill ATF with V.A.G 1924 until ATF pours through the control hole -arrow-.
  N37-0353
Tighten the control screw with a new retainer -arrow 1- with a torque of 15 Nm.
–  Fit the plug to the fill pipe until it couples with the contact arm, or
–  Fit the fill pipe plug and fasten it with a new hood -arrow 2-.
–  Couple the hood.
  Note
Always replace the hood, because it is used to fasten the locking plug.
Let the ATF bleed and fill

Disassemble the ATF control plug from the oil sump -arrow-.
–  Disassemble the overflow pipe (golden) through the control hole.
–  Let the ATF bleed.
–  Assemble the overflow pipe.
–  Thread the control screw with your hand.
To fill ATF, you can only use the ATF with refill number

–  Fill approximately 2 litres of ATF (G 052 990 A2) through the fill pipe
–  Then, start the engine and, with the vehicle stopped, select once all ranges in the selector lever.
–  Then, check and fill the ATF level → Fig.
