  WARNING
Risk of injuries! Pay attention to the warning notes and security norms → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Portable multimeter or EQ 7318 or EQ 7321 -VAG 1526C-
  Note
t  The Battery -A- should not be charged or drained in the two hours that precede measurement. Charging or draining procedures executed in this period will result in incorrect measurement.
t  The purpose of measuring the quiescent voltage is to determine whether it is necessary to further charge the Battery -A- in an unused or stored vehicle.
Checking conditions:
–  Disconnect the terminal from the negative pole of the Battery -A-.
–  Wait at least 2 hours. During this period, the Battery -A- must not be charged or drained.
–  Measure the quiescent voltage of the Battery -A- with the Portable multimeter or EQ 7318 or EQ 7321 -VAG 1526C-.

MeasurementProcedure
Quiescent voltage ≥ 12.5 VQuiescent voltage in order, check the charge of the battery → Chapter.
Quiescent voltage < 12.5 VCharge the battery -A- → Chapter.

If the Battery -A- is charged, proceed as follows, depending on the measurement results:
–  Wait at least 2 hours. During this period, the Battery -A- must not be charged or drained.
–  Measure again the quiescent voltage of the Battery -A- with the Portable multimeter or EQ 7318 or EQ 7321 -VAG 1526C-.
  Note
If, after charging the quiescent voltage of the Battery -A- is < (12.5 V), Battery -A-must be replaced.
