Checking changeover for exhaust gas recirculation cooler

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213-

Procedure

–	Remove heat shield sleeve.

–	Pull vacuum hose off vacuum unit and connect hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213-.

–	Operate hand vacuum pump to create a vacuum.

l	The linkage of the changeover for the exhaust gas recirculation cooler moves -arrows-.

If linkage does not move or only moves in jerks:

t	Vacuum actuator is defective.

t	Changeover flap for exhaust gas recirculation is tight.

Note

Reinstall heat insulation sleeve in the same location when assembling.
