Quantum L4-1588cc 1.6L DSL SOHC Turbo (1982)
5. Push gearshift lever into left cut-out of slide (3/4).
6. Adjust shift rod and shift finger (transmission in neutral).
7. Tighten clamp nut.
8. Remove tool.
9. Engage 1st gear.
10. Press gearshift lever to left stop.
11. Release gearshift lever. The lever must spring back to the right.
12. Engage 1st gear.
13. Press gearshift lever to right stop.
14. Release gearshift lever. The lever must spring back to the left.
NOTE: When the gearshift lever is placed in 1st or 5th gear and lever is pushed against left or right side stop and then released, the lever must
spring back approximately the same distance. If it does not, perform the following:
a. Move gearshift lever housing slightly in slots sideways.
b. Check that all gears engage easily without jamming.
c. Particularly, check operation of reverse gear stop.
d. Install the shift boot.
e. Install gearshift lever knob.
