Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair
Right Flange Shaft Seal
Right Flange Shaft Seal (All Wheel Drive) - 02E, 6 Speed DSG A/T AWD
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Puller T10037
^
Thrust piece T10049
^
Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
^
Torque wrench V.A.G 1332
^
Socket insert V.A.G 1669 or socket insert T10107
Removing
^
Transmission is installed.
CAUTION! Follow these instructions exactly to avoid damaging flange shaft polygon bearing.

Remove drive axle.

Place appropriate receptacle underneath transmission.

Remove right flange shaft screw with socket insert V.A.G 1669 or socket insert T10107.
-
Screw extractor T10037 onto right flanged shaft.
-
Align extractor parallel to flange using knurled nut T10037/1 and lower support -A-.

Pull out flanged shaft.

Pry out the sealing ring.
Installing
-
Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease G 052 128.
-
Drive new seal in as far as the stop; be sure not to distort seal.

Carefully rotate flange shaft while driving on.
-
Fasten flange shaft with countersunk screw and tighten to 30 Nm.
-
Install drive axle.
-
Install drive axle shield on bevel box.
-
Check oil level in bevel box.
-
Install noise insulation, if equipped.
