Used Oil Collecting and Extracting Device V.A.G 1782
Removing
Always make sure no dirt enters an open transmission.
Dirt entering can cause a transmission malfunction especially with the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) Mechatronic J743 and/or oil pump open.

Place the selector lever in the "P" position.

Disconnect battery Ground (GND) cable with ignition switched off.

Remove the noise insulation if necessary.

Remove cable bracket from large front transmission cover (2 nuts M6).

Release mechatronic connector retainer by rotating and remove connector.

Position lines in cover area upward and tie up.

Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Device V.A.G 1782 under the transmission.

Remove bolt -A- near pendulum support.
Up to transmission production date "September 20, 2004", transmissions with two bolts were installed.
Following that, the second bolt was discontinued and the oil is drained and the oil level is checked only with the -A- bolt.
The oil level in the transmission is determined with the length of the plastic overflow tube with 8 mm hex socket head (tightening specifications 3
Nm).

Oil pipe, removing
Leave the used oil collection and extraction device V.A.G 1782 under the transmission because approximately 5 liters of oil will drain out.

Reinstall the overflow tube; tightening specifications: 3 Nm

Loosen cover bolts -arrows- diagonally and remove.

Guide cover on starter bolt.
