Gear Oil, Checking and Filling

Gear oil, checking and filling 0A4, 5 Speed M/T

It is not possible to check gear oil level by removing oil filler plug.

Due to the angle of engine/transmission assembly, the lower edge of filler hole - arrow 1 - is located below oil level - arrow 2 -.

Oil level in transmission can only be checked when gear oil has been drained completely and then re-filled:

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

Standard hose (approx. 600 mm long, outer circumference 10 mm) with funnel.
