Rabbit L5-2.5L (BGP) (2006)
-
Disconnect coupling of fuel supply line -1 - and catch exiting fuel with a rag.
NOTE: Press in securing ring to disengage the fuel line.
-
Connect V.A.G 1318 pressure gauge with adapter V.A.G 1318/9 and adapter V.A.G 1318/17 to fuel filter -1 - and to supply line - 2 -.
-
Open shut-off valve of pressure gauge. The lever points in direction of flow.
-
Bleed fuel supply system.
-
Start engine and run at idle speed.
-
Measure fuel pressure.
-
Specification: approx. 4.0 bar positive pressure
If specification is not obtained:
-
Switch off ignition.
-
Check delivery quantity of Fuel Pump (FP) .
-
If Fuel Pump (FP) is OK, replace fuel pressure regulator.
If specified value is not achieved:
-
Switch off ignition.
-
Check for proper seal and residual pressure (entire system). Observe pressure drop on pressure gauge.
-
After 10 minutes there must be a residual pressure of at least 3.0 bar.
If holding pressure drops below 3 bar:
-
Start engine and run at idle speed.
-
Wait until pressure has built up, then switch off ignition. Simultaneously close shut-off valve of pressure gauge (lever perpendicular to direction of
flow) - arrow -.
-
Observe pressure drop (engine side) on pressure gauge.
If pressure drops again:
-
Check line connections, O-rings at fuel distributor and fuel injectors for proper seal. See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Testing
and Inspection/Fuel Injectors, Checking For Leaks and Quantity Injected
-
Check pressure gauge for proper seal.
NOTE: Before removing pressure gauge, put cleaning rags around line connection which is to be disconnected.
If pressure does not drop:
-
Check line connections to fuel tank and check valve of Fuel Pump (FP) .
-
If check valve is OK, replace fuel pressure regulator.
-
Bleed fuel supply system.
