Torque Converter: Removal and Replacement

Torque converter, installing 09G, 6 Speed A/T

Carefully slide in converter hub through the sealing ring up to the first stop.

Using light pressure on the transmission, rotate torque converter until cut-out of converter hub - arrow - engages in coupling plate of the pump
wheel and torque converter slips noticeably inward.

Converter is inserted correctly when it can be turned easily by hand and is seated at uniform depth in transmission on the entire circumference.

CAUTION!  If the torque converter is not properly installed, the drive lugs on the torque converter and the ATF pump will be severely
damaged when the transmission is attached to the engine.
